Hi Friends,

I am travelling to Toronto sometimes in March, 2015. I need a apartment for my family. I am looking something which has easy connectivity to
Harbour Square or Queens Quay.

My family consist of Me, My spouse, My 2 kids(9 yrs and 3 yrs). I also need information about the apartment size. Is there some minimum size of apartment I will have to rent for 4 people or even a 1 bedroom apartment is fine.

Please help me in finding a decent apartment with Kitchen. My budget is 800-1000 CAD.

Hi mahi1421 is very difficult to find an apartment with all your needs for that kind budget.
You will have to increase it to 1300 minimum as you need 2 bedrooms.
I,m a realtor with 12 years of experience and I suggest you to look in viewit.ca.
You can check my site too alrivas. com.
Good luck.

In that area, you would need to spend a minimum of $1500 or $1600 for a 1 BR and about $2000 for a 2 BR. If you are looking for a short term rental, it may actually be more.

there are other areas that are well connected via public transit that would be cheaper.

@ALRIVAS, since you are a realtor, could you tell me if there is a legal obligation for a family with 2 children of opposite sex to rent a 3 bedroom apartment, not less, so that children are in separate rooms? They are 7 and 5 years old.
I can't figure out which city are you talking about here, but I'm interested in Calgary.

thanks for reply ALRIVAS... budget is really my concern. I wont mind travelling for a hour to my office at Queens Quay. Do you have any rental available?

Even 1300 will be fine if it has basic amenities. Can you give me your contact info?

Hi torontosm , can you suggest some area that are well connected to Queen Quay, so that I can search for apartment in that area?

Queens Quay is a short walk from Union Station, and is also accessible by the streetcar. As a result, you could live anywhere on the subway line and still get to work fairly easily. The further you go from the "downtown core", the better deals you will find. Even if the rents are the same, the amount of space you get will be substantially more. Also, if you look for older buildings vs. newer ones, you will find lower prices, albeit with less facilities.

with your budget, perhaps you should look further north along the Yonge line, or east along the Danforth line.

Yes, I've overseen the first sentence, sorry :D
But, my question still remains - are there any regulations on accomodation of opposite sex children......

For 1300-1400, you would be able to find an apartment in Midtown Toronto (Yonge and Eglinton). It's about 20 min subway ride to Union Station (which is a short walk to Queen's Quay). Like what someone else had mentioned- rentals are pretty pricey in that area (Queen's Quay/Harbor Square).

Another suggestion would be to book a 1 month rental using airbnb at someplace in Downtown which is close to the subway line and then check out different parts of Toronto for yourself to see which part of Toronto would be convenient for you. (This is what we did when we landed last March).

Thanks for reply torontosm, however I am unable to find apartment when I search for Danforth area. Is there any specific area I can search along the Yonge line or Danforth line.

Given there's four of you, I think you'll find many landlords will be unwilling to rent a 1 bedroom to you. I think you should be aiming for a 2 bedroom. Have you looked at realtor.ca for examples? Here are a few:

http://www.realtor.ca/propertyDetails.aspx?PropertyId=14993157

http://www.realtor.ca/propertyDetails.aspx?PropertyId=15226914

http://www.realtor.ca/propertyDetails.aspx?PropertyId=15139227

You may have to have to look further from downtown for the price range you want.

Hi emiiuki sorry to get back to you so late.
It make no difference if is a same sex marriage or opposite.
What matters is that you are able to pay your rent and you will show that you will take care of the property.

No, no, we are in conventional marriage but the children are boy and girl. I was asking if there is some kind of regulation that they must have separate rooms.
