Hello guys
I need some advice on health care.
We did our medicals Feb 29.File is in Detroit. Based on other time lines , we hope that we will be asked for our PP in about two weeks.(hopefully)
My wife is six weeks pregnant and our intention is to land in July/August and have the baby there.

My question is this.

Do Canadian health care system/individuals look at Pre-existing conditions when we go to get out health care/benefits? In USA, you know they (health insurance companies) look at pre-existing conditions and such before they insure. I know the HC system is different over there but I have no clue on this so people already in Canada or anybody who has experience please advice.

If they do look at it, then it’s easy to have the baby here bec I have insurance and everything is covered. But my thinking is that they will not look such conditions. I know there are waiting periods to get benefits in some provinces. I intended place is Alberta.

I really appreciate any advice anybody can give.

1. You receive medical insurance day 1 in Alberta after landing
2. It is a provincial plan, and everyone is insured and pays the same rate (cheaper for senior), a good portion of employers pay for the insurance. In Alberta the cost will be free from 01/01/2009 for all residents.
