I am a permanent resident since 2016 and that time my marital status is single. Landed for the first time here is April 2016 and stayed only 1 month and went back in Philippines and stayed there for 1 year and 7 months and got married. I went back here last december 2017 and that time entering canada, my marital status is single but i am married in philippines. What will I do? I want to sponsor my spouse.

You aren't just married in the Philippines you are married all over the world. You should be declaring yourself as married since you marriage. You may need to update your taxes, etc. You can sponsor your spouse not sure what your question is.

I should update first my taxes, etc before applying for sponsorship?

You can apply for sponsorship. Make sure when you file your taxes, you list "married" not single.

LOL. I am really sorry but do we marry based on the geographical locations? A married person is married either in Canada or Philippines?
