Hi everyone,

I am currently working in the US on H1B, and I just got my CoPR. I am planning to land in Canada sometime next year to get my PR card. I have a few questions that I'm still unclear about:

1. I work remotely for my US company, if I am going to be in Canada while waiting for my PR card, which takes about 2 months to get, basically I will have to work outside of the US for 2 months. Would this have any negative impact on my H1B? I've done some research and there seems to be tax implications, but I'm wondering if that's all I need to worry about.

2. Some people on H1B have been able to do a "soft landing" in Canada, and come back to the US while waiting for the PR card to arrive. However, my PR visa in my passport is a single entry visa, which means I can't leave Canada until I get my card in the mail, is this correct? Similar to #1, basically after I land, I will have to stay in Canda for at least 2 months?

Thanks everyone!

1) that's it
2) you can give friend's address for PR card. If you are entering by road, you can use your copr to re enter. PR card is not required to re-enter by road

Thank you so much for the confirmation! That's good to know. For (2) would this mean I can take a bus to Canada and it'd work or does it have to be a private vehicle? Thank you!

It has to be a pvt vehicle- owned/borrowed/rented

No - it doesn't. Landing by bus is absolutely an option as well.

Please note, the op is not taking about landing. Instead about entering Canada after first landing without pr card but just copr. This situation is possible only if one is traveling via road in a private owned/leased/three vehicle (and no commercial carrier whether land sure it sea).
