Need Advice on PR obligation & Citizenship

Dear members,

I need some advice on my situation. I became permanent resident in April 21, 2011 and my PR card expires in June 2016; however, I just got a job offer in US and requires me to be there in August 1, 2013. As my residency obligation goes, I already have more than 730 days living in Canada.

My questions are:

Does this mean that I can return to Canada without any problems before June 2016?

Is it true that I can renew my PR card while I am in US 6 months before June 2016 (PR card's expiry date) and obtain 3 more years outside of Canada within the next five-year period with the new PR card? That is, during the first five year period (2011- 2016) I am already covered since I have more than 730 days, but will I be able to obtain a PR card valid from 2016- 2021 with me having to be back in Canada in 2019 in order to comply with the two-year residency obligation til 2021?

Also the canadian citizenship for me is unfortunately not an option since I will be 35 days away from the 1095 physical presence goal in August 2013. Is it advisable if I apply with 35 days or 8 days (company could move the hiring date to October) away from the canandian citizenship?

If my citizenship is cancelled, would my permanent residency be revoked as well?

I know there are a lot of questions but this will really help me make a decision.

Thanks a lot!

I'll help with a few questions.

Yes - you can renew your PR card six months before the card expires. However you must be in Canada when you submit the application.

No - you cannot remain outside of Canada until 2019. You must have 730 days of residency in Canada in any rolling five year period to meet the residency obligation. To provide an example, if you leave Canada in August 2013 and stay there for three straight years, then you will have to return to Canada August 2016 and live in Canada for two straight years to meet the residency obligation. If you leave Canada in 2013 and don't return until 2019, then you will have been outside of Canada for six years and will be in violation of the residency obligation.
