Need advice about Extending my stay in Canada

Hello,

I really need advice with my VISA.
My work VISA/work permit will expire Oct 31st. I want to remain in Canada for a couple months (for traveling America/Europe) before returning to my home country in Asia this mid-December.
I applied online to extend my stay as a visitor (form 5708) since Sep 12th, the process is still pending so far.

If it's approved in late November, I won't have a chance to go anywhere, so better go home rather than waiting.

I am hoping that someone can help me with this. Your advice will be highly appreciated.

Others can comment as well but not sure I understand your post in that you want to stay in Canada for a few more months but then you say you want to travel to the US and Europe.

Extending your stay as a visitor simply does that allows you to stay in Canada as a visitor but once you leave you need to have a valid TRV or be visa exempt with an ETA to fly back into Canada given the extend stay as a visitor becomes void the moment you leave.

Note there is a grey area that others can comment on about being able to visit the US if someone has a valid visitor record whether that applies to extend as a visitor personally I am not sure.

Thank you for your response. That was correct. So that's why I tried to apply a new visitor VISA from inside Canada but the website doesn't allow me to do though, it keeps sending me to the application for extend my stay (form 5708 instead of form 5256).
Any advice please?
