My family members are Canadian citizens who immigrated to Canada some years ago. They are selling their foreign (non-Canadian) real estate and need to know the market value of these properties at the time of their immigration, for Canadian income tax reporting purposes. They currently don't know this information but they believe that it may have been declared during the immigration process.

The Canadian government webpage "Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Online Request" seems to provide access to a citizen's immigration files. The available physical file types listed on the page are:
- immigration file: temporary residence
- Immigration file: permanent residence
- Medical file
- Permanent resident card application
- Sponsorship file
- Citizenship/naturalization file

Does anyone know if one of these files may contain information regarding personal asset values at the time of immigration? Thanks!
