nearest border is Carway which is around 3 hours (260 km) from Calgary.

As i read here the procedure that you cross the border , get tell the US officer that you come for PR landing, he will give u a paper (administrative refusal), you will return towards canada, tell the office that you come for PR landing, he will guide you to the office.

Thank you for replying. My problem is I dont have a car so I am not driving. Is there any alternate means to Carway ?

I dont know a way other than the car. you may arrang with one of your friends or you may rent a car

nope you don't need US visa to do your Canadian landing
