Hello everyone,
I’m currently residing in New Brunswick and working on a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) that expires in early December 2025.

I’ve recently received a full-time, permanent job offer from a New Brunswick employer for a TEER 2 position (Renovation Project Coordinator – NOC 22303) starting in oct, 2025. The employer intends to support me under the NBPNP Skilled Worker Stream (with Employer Support) once I complete 6 months of full-time work with them via nbpnp under nb skilled worker stream.
I'm currently working in a LBM position teer 4 job from last one year which I am going to quit.
The issue is that my PGWP will expire before I reach the 6-month mark, so I’m trying to find the correct way to maintain my status and continue working legally.

I’ve read about the NBPNP Work Permit Support Letter, which allows workers to apply for a T13 LMIA-exempt employer-specific work permit, but I’m not sure how it applies to my case.

My questions are:
  1. Can my employer request a Work Permit Support Letter from NBPNP before I complete 6 months of employment, so I can apply for a T13 work permit before my PGWP expires?
  2. Will NBPNP issue the letter based on a future-dated job offer (since I’m about to start this position)?
  3. Once I receive the new T13 work permit, can those 6 months of experience under that role be counted toward the NB Skilled Worker – Experience Pathway?
  4. My spouse is currently on a Spousal Open Work Permit (same expiry as mine) — can she apply for an extension at the same time if I get the T13 work permit?
  5. If NBPNP won’t issue the letter yet, what’s my best option to extend my work authorization without an LMIA?
Any insight or advice from those who have gone through the NBPNP + expiring PGWP situation would be greatly appreciated. If there is any other option for me and my spouse, I would like to hear about that too.

Thank you!

1. No. You are not eligible. A work support letter is only issued once you have been nominated by the province. You have to be nominated first and when applying for PR then get work support letter.
2. Don't know what you mean? You haven't applied nor been nominated.
3. You are not eligible.
4. She is not eligible until you are not eligible.
5. You stop working when PGWP expires. Employer should know you cannot work past December. LMIA with closed work permit. Where are your from?

i am from nb, what other options do I have?
As stated in 5. Don't know your citizenship but most likely need a LMIA. Employer needs to prove no Canadian or PR can do the job. If they cannot and have posted the job and it meets recruitment requirements with EDSC then they can pay the $1k and file right away. It can take many months to get a LMIA for you to apply for closed work permit.

Why did employer give you a job offer knowing you cannot work past December 2025? Have you looked at past draws because I don't think this is a trades NOC so has it been selected?

thank you for your response, i talked to a consultant and they suggested for this optionwhich is why i was skeptical. I am not sure what I should do next as my status is going to expire soon along with my wife's status. I won't be able to get LMIA in this less time.

You are not eligible and read the guide (Link provided) as you need nomination. LMIA is your option. Still don't understand why employer would offer job knowing you have to stop working in a few weeks.

What is your citizenship?
