Name to use for spousal sponsorship if your spouse already had her PR card in her father’s name

Hi guys,

I want to start applying for Spousal sponsorship but the challenge i have is that I want to clarify the last name/surname to use for my sponsor (in this case, the sponsor is my wife). She got her PR before we got married and the name on her PR card is her father’s name. And now we have our marriage certificate in my name as the husband as the principal applicant. What last name should we use for my wife in our application. Should it be her father’s name or the new name on the marriage certificate?

Whichever one you want, since you're submitting the marriage certificate. You will need to check the box that asks about alternate names, and provide an explanation.

As stated in the guide, she must use her name as it is in her passport.
