Hi,

I don't have the last name on my passport, So everywhere on a legal document, they use my Given name as Surname. Since I received a citizenship certificate so there is only Last name on my citizenship certificate.

Before I apply for a Canadian passport I would like to correct the name on citizenship certificate. This is what I have on the citizenship certificate:

First Name:
Last Name:
abc xyz

On my original passport my name is:
Given Name: abc xyz
Sur Name:

What I want on citizenship certificate and Canadian passport:
First Name: abc
Last Name: xyz

Technically it is not a name change, just want to split the name in the correct field. So I was looking at the process for Quebec. It seems I need to send the application to Directory of civil for name change plus to add birth in the register since I am born outside quebec, Which I did, but they requested original birth certificate Which I think they won't return it If I send it to them. But I want to keep my original.

So If someone goes through this name correction, Can someone please guide me?
