Name change help!

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot

Have any Australians gotten married in Canada and changed their Australian passport to their married name?

My husband is sponsoring me for permanent residency in Canada and I'd like my PR card to have my married name, but I've hit a wall with changing my passport over.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did years ago. I was born in Victoria .I had to get my name changed on my birth certificate first and then get the new passport. I believe the rules address different in each state though .And I felt really strange having a different name on my birth certificate.
