Well I am now a permanent resident of Canada but having a change of heart... ???
I want to change my surname to my hubby.
So how do I go about it? :D

I know I should of gotton it done before I moved up and started sponsorship and before i got permanent residency.

But now as time goes by, I really wanna take his name.

so whats the first step? :'(

Changing your name to your home country, then getting passport with new name.
After that you can change name to your pr card and everything else by using your new ID and marriage certificate.

Please correct me if i am wrong!

This is information i got from my country's embassy. I was planning to do this as well, but since i have 3 years left of my passport, honorary concultant said i should wait and renew everything then. (currently 10 year passport, and these days they only give 5 year passports).

I too would like to do this HoneyBird. I didn't get a chance to earlier and so figured I would just wait until after PR.
I would like to hear of some more tips especially changing name in the US and Canada.

I changed mine with the tax authorities by submitting a form along with my marriage certificate. For the passport, I submitted new pictures, the passport form and my marriage certificate. Everywhere else I inquired about changing it (banks and professional associations) basically required the same thing: fill in a form they provide, submit original and copy of the marriage certificate.
