Dear All

My wife is the principal applicant and she has had a name change and religion change.
Do we need to provide documents evidencing name change and religion change as all her education and experience documents are in the old name. The forms only ask for "other names" but dont ask for any supporting documents.

thanks.

Ayazbhai,
I am not an expert but as her work exp. and education certificates are in earlier name, you will probably need to show proof of name/religion change such as declaration in reputed newspaper etc. Are u both applying through representative or alone? Also what was her earlier religion and if her name is now completely different, CHC might need the proof to verify that the same person changed her name and religion. Maybe you might also need an affidavit for the same.
I suggest you contact your rep. (if any) or immigration expert/lawyer (if u applied alone) for detailed guidance on this issue.

Rgds,

Canada does not really care about what religion you are but if you legally change your name, you must have some kind of document to that affect and you have to send this to immigration as well as a photocopy of new ID and passport to notify them that the person (old name) has changed her name and is now known as (new name).

Yes you need to show IDs of both names. Mine is same case. I changed my name completely after marriage. I sent my old and new PP, Bank Pass Book, Newspaper Cutting - one English and other regional, self and spouse affidavit and off course covering letter.

You need to mention the old names with supporting evidences as well official paper of name change. Religion is not an issue for immigration. Immigrants are assessed equally irrespective of their color, religion, ethenic group...etc.

Good luck
