Hello all, here is the situation I find myself in:

I'm a US resident who recently applied for a Canadian study visa online using Mycic logging in through Access Key; I applied at begining of this month and thought all was good to go. The issue I'm facing now is that you can no longer access MyCIC through Access Key, and thus I'm not able to check my messages or the current status of my application. Going into MyCIC to create a new account (which I'm told is what I need to do) they request a client ID which I haven't been given, from what I can gather the client ID is what is needed to link the information from Access Key to my new MyCIC account.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue and know how to approach this? If I create a new MyCIC account without using a client ID will it automatically know that I've submitted an application just going off of my personal information and allow me to track status?

Lastly, I've tried contacting the CIC at 888-242-2100 but because I'm calling from the US it's to no avail. I've also tried calling 613-944-4000 but that's a no go as well because as soon as you say you're calling about immigration information they try to patch you through to 888-242-2100 and I of course can't get through.

Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated, aside from my reciept I literally have no way of proving I've even submitted an application at this point.

The good new is MyCIC doesn't seem to ever update statuses of applications. In fact, according to it, the VR I got back in 2011 is still pending.

First, make sure you're using a hardline desktop computer. No Wifi and preferably not a laptop. I know that sounds silly, but just trust me. You have better luck.

Have you tried calling the Call Centre's 800 number and not gotten through? If you haven't, call anyway. The fact you aren't getting through isn't because you're from the USA. It's because the Call Centre doesn't support a waiting system for some inane reason. I get hung up on all the time because they're busy. It's best to call First thing in the morning (at 7:45am), preferably on a Tuesday. Just keep calling back. Sometimes it takes me a dozen tries.

On other thing, if you happen to be calling with Skype or Google - it will not work. The VRU at the Call Centre can't process the imput and it will hang up on you. Find a friend or relative with free long distance, calling to Canada, etc or get a calling card.

Calling the Call Centre is a pain in the rear, but still easier than calling the IRS. ;)

Also, recently, it appears MyCIC went through a security upgrade. Have you made your new secured login? You might as well, because Revenue Canada uses it as well........ suspecting it's a univeral thing for government now. I kinda like it.
