My partner filed an online application on January 10 to extend his Visitor Record status. On January 11 he was notified that the application was received. A few days ago (January 28) he got an email that the application had been updated and he should check his application status and messages on MyCIC for more information, but there doesn't seem to be anything new there since January 11.

I was wondering if anyone else on this board has received seemingly duplicate notifications or false notifications like this. If it was something important, like them needing some information we omitted, I don't think he should ignore it, but there really doesn't seem to be anything. What should we do?

I was just in that situation last week; I applied on December 31, 2014 and received an e-mail On 29-Jan saying that extension was approved.

However before receiving that letter I kept getting notification e-mails and when I'd log in, I wouldnt c n e messages...but by checking the page closely, I'd see that the status on the top where it says things like "Application Status", "Interview", "Medicals" etc... It would change from "not required at this time" to "not required" and those minor updates trigger an e-mail and confuse the applicant coz we expect a message!

So don't worry, just keep checking, I think u r close to receiving a decision given u applied 10 days after me! Hope this helps!

Thanks for that information. It's true that the difference between "not required at this time" and "not required" would be difficult to detect. At least, it doesn't appear that anything is missing from the application so hopefully the uncertainty will be resolved soon, because it's killing him. Added to winter depression and lack of news on the PR application, plus lack of money due to trying to live on one rather poor income is hard.

I know; I understand completely! Same situation as mine! Let's hope the waiting game is over soon! All the best! Hang in there!

I applied for my extension online a few months ago, and every time I got a message or update, a few hours or a day later I would get another "false" update. I would log in and nothing was changed (I know as I was taking screen shots :D ). So, don't worry about it.

The same happened to me, by the next morning my approval was there.
