But you got your approval before the 15 month mark right? Ours expired dec 2012 and our application has not even been opened yet. It's been in Manila since October.

Considering my husband's VO was LA yes it was. However that said, if you do get the medical now, and they extend them (which they can do, and they don't tell you that they did) then you would have wasted money on medicals when it could be used for something else. So. Be prepared to do another one, but don't until they contact you.

This whole process has been a clusterfook. I would rather they just extend the current medicals since they were the ones who could not process it in time though they should at least say that if your expired medicals have exceeded this amount of time go get another one. Our application has been bogged down with so much dead time I'd rather not have to be in the position that they are waiting for me to send them again.

There really is no need to ask for the medicals or police checks until the application is in process at the VO.

I agree 100% that there shouldn't be any reason to. But I sort of understand CIC's stance. A police check that is over a year old, well someone could have gotten into criminal trouble in a year thinking it won't affect immigration. Or with the medicals, someone could contract HIV or something within that year. THAT SAID. Spousal Sponsorships are medically exempt, so it doesn't matter if they have HIV really. So I can't understand CIC with that. I don't try to haha.

I think I will just go ahead and have my wife redo all police clearances and medicals and then she can send them in or drop them off in person. Then I will just bill that cost back to the government. My file sits in Manila unopened since October. They will not bother to get to it now until the year has passed otherwise. They seem only interested in the ones they haven't fooked up yet.

From what I understand of the medical process, if you decide to have your wife do it without them requesting the remeds, make sure you mention the IME# along with the UCI and the file number. I think it will make it easier to match to her file in the VO.

What's the IME#? I have the other 2 but that one is news to me.

IME is the medical file number. We figured what it is from our GCMS notes.
