My spouse and I want to submit separate applications as Primary applicants

My spouse and I are both qualified to apply for PR under CEC. Is it possible that, though she includes her spouse's details (i.e. my details as it is required) she does not pay my fee since I would like to file for my own PR sometime later. My spouse's employment letter covers all the pre-requisites mentioned in cic checklist whereas mine's misses a few which I could substantiate with the help of my pay stubs and reference letters from my manager (though, not on company's letter head).

Q1) Can we pay the fee for only the primary applicant?
Q2) Is it advisable to file for separate PR applications (idea is to have a buffer in case of rejection)

Please advise

1) If your wife does not pay the fee for you, then this means that you will be a non-accompanying spouse. If you are non-accompanying, this means you will NOT be granted a PR visa when your wife is approved for PR. Only your wife will be granted a PR visa. If you want to be granted a PR visa along with your wife, then she must pay the fees for you as well as for her.

Thank you for taking time to reply

So does that mean, even though we mention spouse's details, we can exclude them from getting PR. What if the spouse is already in canada?

Also, can I apply separately later on, this time again excluding my spouse details?

I'm a little confused here: PR is independent - that is, if you part ways, you both retain your PR status. I'm not sure of the benefits of excluding spouses - quite the opposite in fact

you+spouse pay twice.

your wife sends application, pays for her + you.
you send application, paying for you + her.

Though I really don't think they will accept two different CEC application under the same person.

If you want it to be hassle free, i suggest one of you apply as principal applicant, include the other as dependent.

Have your wife, apply as principal, as you said your application is ''missing some papers".

Hi roth, this is what is my confusion, would I have to pay twice, If yes then it does not make sense for me to apply that way. I was thinking for applying for both so that one application is in buffer in case the other is rejected. I know there is a possibility of both getting rejected but since approval largely also depends on the VO, just thought to take the chance this way. But if I end up paying twice then it does not make sense.

I dont agree with you on that note. If you apply for self and your spouse for herself on a separate application.;
Happy path scenario is you both get PR approved and can get evrything in place within simialr timelines (How much likely ???)

The other scenarios, i.e., either yours or your Wife's application gets rejected and the other gets approved. In this case, the other one has to apply again (How much chance, since already rejected once) or get added as a sponsored dependent; both of which will take more time.

Lastly, if both apps get rejected, then you'll end up applying again for sure.

So, I'd suggest, keep the one who has a strong backing in terms of Eligibility, Work experiences, supplementary documents etc. as the primary applicant and apply together.

Note: These are just my opinion. You should listen to others and try to get proper official confirmaions before taking decisions.

In addition, how you plan to explain that single person is filled documents for PR and "is not accompanying his/her spouse" at the same time? It might not be an issue if it is being handled by different VO, but (for me) clearly looks "fraudulent" in case of same VO...

you have to submit one application...one person as the primary applicant and the other as the dependent. You have to declare all your dependents (spouse & kids) on the application so trying to submit to different applications will be expensive (you will have to pay for yourself and each dependent both applications) and may result in either one or both of you being rejected. Read the instruction guides on CIC website, the information is there.

Hi All,

I am an PNP outland applicant. My paper based application is in progress. My wife is including as a dependent in my application.

My wife qualifies for express entry. I plan to create express entry profile with my wife as primary applicant and me as a dependent.

Will CIC consider the express entry profile as a separate application or will consider it as a duplicate application? Or should I cancel my paper based application once I receive ITA for express entry profile?

Suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks,
Rohan

Hi all
My question is, if both husband and wife need to get their ECA done then do we both need to register at WES separately and payment of $233 should be done twice.
Or can i apply my husband's ECA through my WES account.
