I applied for a job in Canada and was contacted by the recruiter. She said she was impressed with my experience and background and demand we talk on Skype. After the call, she sent me an email, that I'm among the top applicants and I should send my academic credentials, after which she demanded for my passport. Pls I'm confused, does it mean I've gotten the job?

Agree with above there is no need for any recruiter to have copies of any credentials or a copy of your passport. Although nobody here can know of course these are standard warning signs of a potential scam. If you communicate again with this recruiter ask why they need this information and what they plan to use it for given even employers would not ask for this upfront.
Yes we spoke on Skype. She has not asked that I paid for Visa. She said company will pay for my ticket if selected
Please provide exact details of the job offer with your personal information removed from it and then we can advise you better.
It is almost a certainty that this is a fake job / scam. Just because it's via LinkedIn, it doesn't make it genuine.

Don’t give your passport number. Why would they need it? Google the company and it is a house.
