Hi,

I was Canadian immigrant, I suddenly come back to my native country due to my father's serious illness. Since then got stuck in it and couldn't think to go back.....My father passed away but some family property issues halt me to stay here....during this period got married and now have children. Now, I have resolved all the issues and willing to go back....is there any possibility to apply to renew my PR card?

Regards.

First you cannot renew a PR card from outside Canada.

Second in order to travel back to Canada you would need to apply for a PRTD which given seems you are implying you have failed the residency obligation would probably result in your PR status being revoked unless you have very solid H&C reasons for being away so long. Not wanting seem intrusive but how long ago did your father pass given if was years ago then that might weaken any case.

Third you could try entering via the US land border with your expired card assuming you have a US visa and hope you do not get reported leading to your PR status being revoked subject to appeal. If not reported you would need to stay in Canada for minimum 2 years with little or no interaction with IRCC, not even to renew your PR card.

Once someone is out of the country and has failed the residency obligation it can become very challenging if not impossible to keep PR status so your options are limited and you may need to accept losing PR then having to apply from scratch.

When did you get PR and how long have you been out of Canada? Is your mother alive? Do you have other family members that live in the same area as your father especially siblings? Were you able to work while caring for your father? Was he continuously seriously ill and do you have doctor and hospital records. These will be important to determine whether a prtd attempt is potentially going to be approved.
