My passport will expire before 3 years of work permit. Need help and suggestions!

Hello Everyone,

I will be leaving for my masters in fall this year (2019). My degree has a duration of 21 months. So, I will be eligible for PGWP of 3 years starting from mid of 2021. But my passport expires on March 12 2023. As per my knowledge I will only be getting PGWP till my passport expires. So, I wont be able to get 3 years PGWP. Is there a solution to this problem?. I heard we can only renew the passport within the year of its expiry so I am wondering what will be the solution?. Also I heard speculations that students can renew passport withing 2 years of expiry. Kindly help me out!

You can extend PGWP if you are elegible for more years than what is given due to your passport expiring.
