Hi guys, I helped my mom with her application for a TRV so she could come to my graduation on the 1st of June. We applied on the 5th of May and since then there has been no feedback or response from CIC. I tried calling them from Canada to have any updates on the application and they told me that because it was made outside of Canada they cannot see the application.

But then my mom went to the Canadian Visa offices in Mexico City and they told her that because she applied online there is no way that they can review her application or reasons for the delay. It's been 13 days (way past the processing time of 4-7 days) and I'm getting desperate. Who do I contact in these special cases?

Would it be wise to apply again on paper in Mexico? Or should my mom apply for an express visa just so she can see me graduate? Please help.

(P.S. We ended up applying on May because even though Canada has plans to remove our requirement of a visa, visas are still necessary at the moment)

Posted times are a courtesy, there is no commitment to give an answer in that timeframe.

Usually TRVs in Mexico are taking between 2 to 8 weeks.

If you apply again in paper the new application will be rejected as you can only have one process active at the same time.

What do you mean by "express" visa?

Just 13 days are not "special cases", a real delay would be more than 8 weeks.

Sit tight and be patient.

Thank you for the encouragement! I agree the best thing to do right now might be to wait, otherwise we might be cancelling an application that will get a response soon.
