Please read through and comment.

I chatted with one of the senior members the other day. Now I'd like to know what other members think of the situation I'm trapped in.

If such a thing has happened to you please do share your way out of the problem.

Here’s what happened:

After a long quest for a job/job offer, I could successfully have an employer offered me a job offer. He didn’t know anything about AEO. As I’m not in Canada, and I didn’t want to put the gentleman in trouble, I sought help from one of the immigration consultants who I had contacted before. She immediately gave the quote and accepted to take care of case. This happened in the first week of November. As she claimed she was working on my case requesting documents from my employer.

She gave me some confusing information and as a result I decided to drop her a letter top rectify the misunderstanding.

She wrote back to me later and threatened that she would limit our communication for 2 reasons: I called her once a day in 3 days, and for that email.

I wrote back to her and explained that it’s my right top contact you.

From that time, Dec. 5, she has avoided me totally and did not write to me directly.

Two times she sent me CC to let me know that she had received the documents and that she would post the application to HRSDC.

At the moment I do not know whether she has posted the application or not.

I am also so disappointed and like to get the money I have paid her back.

What do you think is best to do?

I would relax. Anxiety is a common "disease" among immigrant-wanna-bes, myself included. What I feel adequate to do actually often makes me seem like I'm under a constant anxiety attack in the eyes of my immigration attorneys.

Relax, sit back and understand that this is a long process, in which most of the time is spent sitting around and doing nothing but waiting. Constant inquiries won't help anyone. And it's totally unproductive or even counterproductive. Attorneys sell their time and expertise for a living. They aren't interested in spending time on correspondence that achieves nothing. Only when you are relaxed can you make a valid judgment on how good she is. I've had great attorneys and not so great ones. But none of that came into clear view for me until I've done this for many years and eased back on my "immigration anxiety attack".

Put this behind you and enjoy the holidays. It sounds to me that she'll do what she's paid for, which is not a complicated task after all.

Just my 2 cents.

First make sure that this lawyer or consultant is registered and still have the right to contact the CIC
as many of them got revoked especially consultant and they never tell so you have to find out for your self and in the CIC website there is a link to a verification website for both lawyer and consultants
since november 2006 tons of consultants got revoked for failing to pass a required exam by the CIC
and so they lost the right to practice and no communication with the CIC and applications are forgotten

be careful

Thanks for your inputs. She emailed me last night, day time Canada, and informed that she had sent the application to HRSDC, as I had assumed.

She wrote that she would send the express post slip later. I want to relax and see how things go. I believe I can file a complaint against her if anything goes wrong.

What do you think?

you can also contact the Better Business Bureau before making your choice. They can tell you if any complaints have been raised against immigration representatives that operate in Canada.

http://www.ccbbb.ca/

also check this page
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/representative/complaints.asp

and this to verify if they are authorized
