My Eligibility - 17 years old / Parent is citizen - Confused

Hi there, My father is a canadian citizen (born there, 1960s) Now I am 3 months off of my 18th birthday, however I am wondering if I am only eligible to my claim to citizenship whilst I am still a minor and under 18?. If so then that worries me as apparently the application processing time is atleast 5 months for citizenship to be granted (I would no longer be a minor once the application is completed). If I was to put in the application now whilst I am still a minor will i be able to be granted my citizenship or will it be void as I won't be a minor when it is finished or does it not matter as long as it is submitted whilst I am still a minor?. If it will be void am i still able to claim citizenship through my father as an adult or is it only whilst I am under 18? (report birth abroad). What are my options here ?, Please help !.

1. If your father was a Canadian citizen, by birth or naturalization at the time of your birth, you don't submit a citizenship application, you apply for proof of citizenship: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp
2. Your age has nothing to do with the proof of citizenship, though as a minor your parent or guardian has to apply for it, for you.
