:( my boyfriend(Canadian) and I applied PR under common-law and I applied for CEC same time which is July/2012, I just received letter that says we don't have enough documents to show we have been relationship at least for one year....:( we been together for more than 4 years, showed pictures, letters from friens families.etc. we are pretty angry now and don't know what to do. we are thinking to appeal it, but affraid it will effect my CEC. I received AOR about my CEC.
Any suggestions?

Common-law can be a pain in the rear to prove, so don't feel bad about that part.

Is that your only other rejection? I doubt it will effect your CEC application much as it's entirely based on you and your skills.

I got AOR in September, do you know how long will take for the next step? and what the next step will it be? We don't know if we should wait for my CEC, or just fight for common-law anyway :(

I would weight the CL Spousal versus CEC in this manner -

Average appeal time in your city versus CEC average processing times.

Appeal time varies. You could google the appeal times or if you don't mind sharing what city and province you live in, we can try to help you find out. If the appeal process is very short, then you could try an appeal. If it's long, you could put your bets in with CEC. Or you could go with both and see how it works out. If you get PR before one is settled, you can always withdraw the other application.

I'm in Toronto, ONT
Thank you for your help
Is that still possible get rejected after getting AOR?

All AOR means is they received your application, so it's completely possible to get rejected afterwards. They haven't begun to process yet.

Toronto is somewhere around two years for spousal appeals (I think).

Use the search bar and search 'spousal appeals.' There's several threads you can get tips and advice on the appeals process from. Here is one good one:

I can only speak for myself. I had to wait 28 months to get hearing date for Appeal in Toronto. Maybe you will get ADR.

ok, im really confused now. I got this letter saying that PR has been refused, and the letter sent to our new address. but today i got the letter for my boyfriend from our old address that says he have met the requirements for eligibility as a spnsor. the application for permanent residence will be processed separately and the applicant will hear from this office shortly.
what does this mean?

1. It means the sponsor is eligible to sponsor, not that the applicant is eligible to receive a visa.

DONT WORRY ...IT WILL NOT EFFECT ANYTHING ...WHEN U APPLYING CEC MAKE SURE ALL INFORMATION YOU WILL SHOW ON CLEAR .....JUST WRITE ON REASON I HAD APPLIED COMON LAW APPLICATION BIT IT WAS REJECTED BECAUSE OF OFFICERS WERE NOT SATISFIED ...THAT'S IT ...EVERYTHING WILL BE OK...
