Hello,

I applied in mid-April, with an expected decision to come in 30 days. I applied overseas for a visit visa.

Now when I applied, I made sure to pay to do my biometrics again, as they were expiring in mid-June 2026.

I received a BIL the following morning, however the next day, the system marked my biometrics complete as they reused my old ones which expire in June.

I sent countless webforms, all I get is a bunch of links about how to do biometrics, nothing to help me address this situation about letting me do my biometrics again as I cannot show to a VAC if the biometrics are marked as complete.

I thought if they process my application in time, I would be able to receive my passport and leave before my biometrics expire.

Well it has been over 30 days, and recently my application has said to be going under eligibility review.

What’s going to happen now? If they issue me a Passport Submission Request there is no way I will get my passport back in time before my biometrics expire and for me to arrange a flight.

I don’t know what to do. I don’t know who to contact. Is this even a problem for me to worry about? I just don’t get it.

Were you told to get biometric as soon as you apply?

If you completed a new biometric enrollment, there should be no issue. The system will update your record with the new expiry date soon. My brother's family had the same situation, and their expiry date was updated after they completed their new biometrics.

But the issue is that they did not let me do my biometrics, they issued the BIL, and marked it as complete the next day. That letter then suddenly became invalid

No, your new bio letter is fine. If you are still seeing the old biometric validity date, it will be updated once you completes the new biometric enrollment (provided you chose to renew it during the initial application submission process).

To do this, you will need to book an appointment with VFS and complete the new biometric enrollment. After that, the updated validity date should be reflected in the system.

Note: Who is not allowing you to complete the biometrics, and who told you that it is invalid?

I am an idiot if this is true, but I shared this information with AI, as I couldn’t find much research about this situation.

It literally told me you can’t go to an appointment if your biometrics are already completed on the system and it will be turned back. I live far from a VAC.

I assumed my visa will be processed before my biometrics expires so I left it as-is.

Is there anything I can do now, should I just wait for my biometrics to expire so they can issue me a new BIL, or should I contact them via webfrom to issue a new BIL, since the old one expired

if your recently issue letter is not valid than you can try to extend using web form (and not everything told by AI is correct )
