Hi! I'm new to this forum.

Application sent to New Delhi - June 29th from Mississauga-after approval of sponsorship
PPR - August 27th
November - Medicals received
December 29th 2011 - 6 months processing time ends
Why the delay in sending the visa? Why has ND kept my passport for over 4 months? I'm married to a Canadian national. Sent all the proof of relationship. Why the delay then? Is this common? Has it happened with anyone? Someone please help answer my question. Very frustrated! :(

You should send a Case Specific Enquiry as soon as possible asking the status after submitting your passport.

I have already asked them this question about whether they received my passport or not, but they didn't reply to my mail, which I sent five times!
Thank you for the response. I'll send them an email again.

Did you send Case Specific Enquiry or normal e mail or letter by post.
Case Specific Enquiry will not be ignored. Usually, it could take 15 days or early.

I've sent two case specific enquiries through their portal, one through my e-mail account, one fax and one letter by registered post. In the letter they sent me they answered another one of my questions telling me of one more document that I had to send them. But the question about the passport was ignored. No reply was given.

How should I send the next case specific enquiry? Through the CIC portal or from my e-mail account? Thank you for your responses. I appreciate it.

If they have requested a document then that's the 1st thing you need to do. Send them whatever they need ASAP and don't worry about passport request. ND sends PP requests either at the beginning of the case or at the very end. It seems like they wouldn't request your PP till the end when they are ready to issue a visa.

I've already sent all the documents they required. I'm wondering why they're taking so long because I've reached the end of my application processing time. I'm planning to go to Delhi and meet them personally, hoping to get some answers. Will that help?

They already asked for my passport in August and they've kept it for 4 months now.How many more months can they keep it for?

ND requests your passport at the beginning of the processing. It is standard operating procedure for that office and a number of others in southeast Asia. It does NOT mean you have been approved, it is a standard request for those offices to get the applicant's passport at the start of their processing.

The 6 months stated on CIC's website is an AVERAGE time for 80% of cases processed in the last 12 months. This means your case processing could take less time, and it could take more. In fact, for 1 in 5 persons it is more than probable that it will take them more than 6 months to do their processing.

If you have not been requested to submit additional documents, and have not been convoked to an interview, it is possible that your processing is just falling outside the norm. Relax, and let them do that they need to do, and you will have your visa soon enough.

Thank you for the detailed reply. I guess I'll send them an enquiry and wait to see what happens.

They don't give proper answer if you try to see them in person. your sponsor can contact the local MP to get a proper answer if your time has surpassed 6 months. It's common for ND to take more than 6 months.

Good grief I didn't know that. I'm tired of waiting. I'll soon be approaching my first anniversary infact and am waiting to join my husband. My application status on e-cas still says 'Application Received' even though 6 months have passed. They haven't even bothered to change that although they do say "Medical results have been received' and I don't know what that means; whether I'm close to the end or not? I'll ask my husband to contact the local MP then. Thanks a ton for the advice.

Any progress in your case?
