On IMM 0008, there's the 'click to validate' button. It brings up bar codes and such. I realize it's a safety feature but my spouse and I filled these forms by hand, just printed them up and made sure all the information was there.

But...MUST we press validate? It certainly doesn't say it's a 'must do', although I could see it helping some people.

Any comments on this?

In addition to being a safety feature to ensure that the forms are filled out correctly, it is also - more importantly, arguably - facilitates CIC inputting the data much faster (the bar codes encode the info on the form). That's why they request the bar codes to be a the very top of your application.

Well this changes a few things...why wouldn't they put this mandatory thing in the intructions? I can understand saving time, but where does that leave those whose computers are having difficulty simply opening the form?

Thanks for the information, I'll get right to working a solution....
