I tried to search the forum but couldn't find anything - Does anyone have any experience ordering GCMS notes while your previous GCMS notes are still pending? Does the first one get cancelled or did you receive both after 30 days each?

Thanks!

Not sure, but why would you want to do that? Wait until you get the current notes and if you're still missing information
order new ones?

I would recommend the same..

Toby: how many times can we order GCMS notes? Also, any mandatory duration to keep before ordering the next notes?

AFAIK you can order as many as you want as often as you want and from within Canada there's no fees.
A better question would be, 'How often does it make sense to order GCMS notes?'.
After receiving AOR it is recommended to wait for about 6-7 months, as in the first few months there's
not a whole lot of information in your file anyway, before ordering the first set of notes.

I'm close to getting my MR and people who have applied around the same day have already gotten theirs. And so I'm afraid the notes I've already ordered might not have any information (if the notes are generated 30 days before it's sent - anyone have any info in this?).

Right now the GCMS notes are generated a few days before they send it out. I think it's only about 10-15 days before.

lol damn it, i live in ottawa, ordered GCMS and paid 5$ lol, its not a big deal, but i guess i missed something....

Guess you did. It's free if you're currently present in Canada. Check my website http://cectoolkit.weebly.com/
and on the Canadavisa.com links tab look for a link on how to order GCMS notes, there's also a youtube
video with instructions.

Yes, there are 2 options. One costs $5 and the other one is free.

Don't worry, I paid the $5 too :P, but its just $5 so I couldn't care less. I'm not requesting it based on 'privacy' grounds, but I just want the information.
Access to Information Act
vs
Privacy Act

Most people on this forum should actually use the 'Access to Information' act and pay the fee, but they seem to favor the 'free' one , although I don't think they have privacy conerns.

In that case, I guess it doesn't make sense ordering multiple notes.

How do you find out when the notes were created? I'm having trouble finding it on mine.

Thanks!

You are misrepresenting the purpose of 2 acts that you mentioned.
Privacy Act - doesn't mean for one who has privacy concerns but for one who request information on behalf HIMSELF , i.e. private information request about one self, that's your constitutional right. The other one called Access to Information Act talks about the right of ANY individual residing in Canada to get information about any OTHER individual given his consent for information release to the 3rd party. Since this is not your OWN right for you OWN information, this one costs 5$.
In short, anyone applying on behalf HIMSELF/HERSELF should use the Privacy Act, which is also free of charge,

Any answers to this?

I got 2 files. I ordered through the privacy act in the beginning and it was free, I thought I ordered the wrong one. So I ordered Access to Information on the same day, and I received both of them on the same day exactly after the 30th day.

hmmmm the CEC processing time is max 6 months, if someone order the notes after 6-7 months, that would be the application has been finalized. So the recommended ordering time according to the processing trend right now, is to order after 30-45 days after AOR, where in most cases R10 is passed.
