Hello,
could you please explain how a multiple entry visitor's visa works? my Mother got 3 years multiple entry visa to Canada and she is in Canada at the moment. At the port of entry they did not stamp her passport and never said anything about how long she should stay in Canada. If she stays 6 months and leaves, can she enter Canada after 2 weeks again?
thank you.

ME allows the recepient to leave and enter Canada for as much as they want during the validity of the original VISA.

if my Mother has stayed in Canada 6 months already, will she be admitted for another 6 months just after 2 or 3 weeks break? I somewhere heard that a visitor is not allowed to stay longer than 6 months in a year in Canada. is it correct? by no means I want her to be denied the entry.

Why not apply for an extension instead of exiting? She may or may not be allowed entry after staying for 6 months and then coming back after 2-3 weeks. There had been posts from members who had applied for extension and were granted up to a year of extension.

extension can work for a year maximum. we'd like to find a way to keep her in Canada during all period of visa validity.

No law. Some have stayed more than 12 months continuously but they applied for extensions, and each time it is granted but I doubt you can extend for until you have processed her PR.

that's why we were thinking about trying the opportunity to use this multiple entry visa as leaving and returning after a few weeks back each time close to 6 months stay expiry in Canada.
you think it might work?

Hi Suin,

I am in the same situation as you. My parents have 5 year TRV. They are in Canada at the moment and would have to leave after 6 months. I was thinking that after 6 months they can visit family in USA and come back to Canada for another 6 months. I am just not sure what will be the response of immigration officer at the Canadian port of entry. Can he deny them entry?

Any Suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks

Still no answer on whether or not it's possible to stay in Canada for 6 months on a Multiple entry visitor visa, leave for a short time (days or a couple of weeks) and then return for another 6 months.

Like Suin, I have doubts that this is allowed. If anyone has any information on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hey I'm trying to figure out the same thing but i just read on imigration canada site that even people on single entry visa can travel to Canada and back, so i am not sure visiting the usa would extend you another 6 mths, better check that first! good luck! and hope we get some clear info abut if we can exit and enter again to get an additional 6 mths......

Let me explain the Multiple Entry against a Single Entry

Single Entry lets you go back to Canada up until your visa expire but your point of entry should be your point of exit
example:
Point of entry: Philippines to Canada
Point of Exit: Canada to Philippines

Multiple Entry on the other has multiple entry and exit points
Point of entry: Philippines to Canada to US
Point of Exit: US to Canada to Philippines

is this correct? pls clarrify... as far as i know as the word says multiple means you can go back to Canada multiple times for as long as your visa is still valid. Single mean you can only use your visa once. Its not about he number of pt of entry and exit. its the frequency of usage. but i might be wrong... :)

Single Entry lets you go back to Canada up until your visa expire but your point of entry should be your point of exit
example:
Point of entry: Philippines to Canada
