Multiple applications for one individual

Hi All

I'm in a weird spot. There are two applications in process for my wife.

1. Paper-based Spousal Sponsorship application - Status : AOR1 (Submitted in March 2020)
2. Online-based Express Entry Application : Status : AOR1 (Submitted in August 2020)

The paper based application was taking too long for any update, and we had no clue when it would reach the AOR stage, so that's the reason for the 2nd application. Has anyone been in this situation before? Should I be worried that letting these applications take their own course would complicate things?
