Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding my upcoming citizenship application and would appreciate any advice or similar experiences.

I came to Canada as a Permanent Resident through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). However, since arriving last year, I settled directly in Ontario due to job opportunities and have lived here for the entirety of 2025.

My situation:

  • Residency: I have been in Ontario since I arrived (over a year now).
  • CRA Records: My address on file with the CRA is in Ontario, not Manitoba.
  • Work: I am currently working as a Team Lead in the medical equipment field here in Ontario.
My concern:I know that PNP programs require an "intent to reside" in the nominating province. Since I moved to Ontario almost immediately, I am worried that IRCC might see this as a problem when I apply for citizenship (potential misrepresentation of intent).

  1. Has anyone here moved provinces immediately after a PNP landing and successfully received citizenship?
  2. Did you have to provide a Letter of Explanation (LoE) or proof that you tried to find work in your original province?
  3. Does having my tax records (CRA) in Ontario for the whole year make it more likely that I will face a Procedural Fairness Letter?
I want to be prepared for when I eventually apply for citizenship. Thanks in advance for your help!

So in a nutshell you misrepresented yourself
You never had any intention on settling in the province you got nominated from and eventually got PR ?

And you’re worried NOW about how it looks ?
That ship has sailed

Why worry about it now ?

You KNEW the rules and blatantly decided to ignore them

People are truly unbelievable
