Congrats! We are planning to land by January 2018 via Vancouver to Winnipeg. Can you share your experience with the immigration officer? How long did you wait? What are their questions? Can you give us some ideas about your landing? Thanks.

Dear,
immigration officer doest ask any such question that is difficult or unanswerable.
just confirm

I landed in Vancouver, though my experience may have been a bit different because I immigrated alone and was unmarried back then. They didn't ask much, just where I was coming from, where I was going to settle, how much money I was bringing, what I was bringing in my luggage, whether I was bringing items not allowed (dairy, meat, etc), etc.

For all the other things (including what to wear for the weather!!), you can get all that information and more from pre-arrival services. Here's the website of the Immigrant Centre Pre-Arrival Centre http://www.ic-pac.com/ where you can sign up for free pre-arrival services. If you sign up, let me know, you can send me a direct message :)

@sheCAN: It depends on how many family members are being processed, and whether your doctor sent the results right away. The more family members, the longer it takes to process everything.

If there is something to cause "concern" (nothing worrisome, more like something that they wonder would be too costly to the health system), they consult with a doctor or an expert, so that adds more time to the process: the time it takes to contact an expert and send the question and info, the time it takes the expert to reply, the time it takes to process that reply, etc. I am sure there is no reason for concern. However, if you see that it's been 6 months or longer, I strongly suggest contacting them and inquiring about your case.

it's just me actually, no other applicant...currently on process for background check, it seems, as per the online status. I thought that's over and done with when I got nominated by the province.

No, the background check is the same for all, even provincial nominees. We get that question often at work, but unfortunately both processes are separate. Given that you are the only applicant, if they take more than, say, 6 months, I would send an inquiry. I remember that for me it took about 3 months, back in 2012.

I see, thanks for the info. That made me anxious though..lol..does that mean there's still a possibility of me getting rejected even after all these :( getting nominated, passing the medicals, not to mention the never ending wait since 2014. Sigh, will just patiently wait. Thanks!

We've also seen that things slowed down during December and early January for those who are receiving our help.

A few of our clients are still waiting, looks like many MPNP applicants are facing delays :( but someone said they would start sending PPRs as of this week. We saw that EE and some FSW applicants did receive PPR as of this week, I hope all of you will get yours very soon.

While you wait for PPR, many of you already received the letter to avail of pre-arrival services to prepare to move to Canada. There are 24 pre-arrival services officially authorized by IRCC. Of those 24, only the Immigrant Centre works exclusively for Manitoba and has partnerships with Manitoban organizations. You can visit the website at www.ic-pac.com, or see the full list of approved services here (we are the second to last in this page) http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/before-services.asp

And if you want to start getting useful information about work, education, language, taxes, health system, etc. you can send me a DM :) even if you haven't got the invitation email yet.
