Hi Washington.state

I have a friend in Brandon Manitoba who is my supporter. We know each other from here in South Africa, lived in the same neighbourhood.

I visited her twice in Brandon and she and I meet up when she comes home to Durban to visit her family.

To answer your concerns,

Extract from CIC website:

If you applied before January 1, 2015:

Your application will be processed under the rules in place at the time you applied.

If you applied on or after January 1, 2015:

Our goal is to process most complete applications received under Express Entry in six months or less.
We currently only have processing times for people who applied under the old system.
Processing times tell you how long it took Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to process applications in the past. Since Express Entry is a new system and not enough applications have been received yet, processing times are not available but we have committed to process applications in six months or less.

Hi Bavon

Good to meet you :)

I am currently living Durban, South Africa.

I submitted my online app + SP2 on 22 May 2014, received a file # on 26 May 2014. File status received.
I am a Lecturer at the Durban Universityof Technolgy (DUT), was previously at Management College of Southern Africa for a year before that.
Currently pursuing my PHD through DUT. I lecture Business Management, Business Admi, Marketing 1, 2, and 3 as well as Consumer Behaviour and Marketing for Retail students. I ahve been looking for vacancies for lecturing posts in Manitoba but I haven't come across any so far :'(

Im just praying our applications move along really quickly now because of express entry.

Cheers

Althea Govender

I wish I could do the PHD through Manitoba but Im not sure how that will work.

Information sent to me by David Cohen

Express Entry: what can I do to prepare for the launch on Jan. 1?

Creating an Express Entry profile will be the first step to immigrate to Canada permanently as a skilled worker through the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

There are a few things you can do to be ready to complete your Express Entry profile and to give yourself the best-possible chance to be invited to apply for permanent residence:

1) You will need to take a language test. CIC will use your test results to see whether you are eligible to immigrate to Canada under one of the federal programs that are part of Express Entry.

2) If you were educated outside Canada, you may need to have your educational credentials (your foreign degree, diploma or certificate) assessed against Canadian standards.

You may not need an assessment if:
•you have at least one year of recent work experience in Canada, or
•your work experience is in a skilled trade (skilled manual work).

Note: Even if you don't think you need to have your foreign education assessed to be eligible under Express Entry, you may want to do so to increase your chances of being invited to apply as including all of your eligible education in your profile can get you more points under the Comprehensive Ranking System.

3) You need to know the skill type of the job your work experience is in (as well as the job you plan to have in Canada, if they are different). You will use Canada's job classification system (the National Occupational Classification, or NOC) to find out whether your work experience is valid under one of the three federal programs.

****IMPORTANT****

CIC will issue candidates an Invitation to Apply by regularly drawing only the top ranked candidates from the pool.

The first draw will take place at the end of January 2015.

A candidate's rank is determined using the Comprehensive Ranking System, and not based on when their profile was submitted. In other words, the Express Entry system ensures that only the candidates who are most likely to succeed - and not simply the first to submit their application - are able to apply to immigrate to Canada.

********

I really think we should try our best to prepare.

My husband and I have already taken IELTS, I have already sent my credentials for assessment and I know my NOC type.
Now to create the profile

I see you are a college lecturer, may I ask if you already have a PHD?

Thats gr8! Congratssss!

Questions for those who have already submitted their application packet to CIC:

1. in the Generic application form, under "Add Dependents", should I add the details of my Parents, Sister, brother-in-law or should I submit only the information about Spouse/Common-law/children?

2. I see in the checklist that Bank statements, education and experience documents were not asked to submit but should I send them again or not?

What did you guys do while sending your applications?
I need immediate clarification and I would appreciate all your replies ASAP..Thanks. :)
