Moving to Quebec before applying for citizenship

Hello! I live in Ontario and I got my permanent residency last year. Im planning on moving to Quebec for work by end of summer and Im just wondering if Ill have issues when I apply for citizenship next year (because of my initial intention to reside outside of Quebec). Anyone face any issues?

No, you won't. Citizenship is a federal issue.

Why is this change of choice? I m curious because i moved to Ottawa… going for Quebec scares me when it comes to taxes and law changes

Its mainly for work and for university tuition because its cheaper. When you say Quebec scares you becau Of law change, what’s happening there? I only speak english by the way so I hope its easy to be there

In quebec they use different civil laws… inherited from old french times

You'll be expected to learn french if you want to live there. Web search for Bill 96.

If you immigrated other than to Quebec, you are expected to intend to settle outside of Quebec. However, given that you have lived in Ontario for a couple years and you would be moving to Quebec only for work and school, you should be okay. If interrogated at a later stage of the citizenship application, you can explain these reasons and state that you had always intended to settle outside of Quebec but just had to go for work and school, and better yet if you can say that you intend to move out of Quebec after you finish school.

If you stay in the Anglophone parts of Montreal and people at work and school speak English, you'll be fine, but if you plan to live in Quebec long term, not knowing French will limit your options and make your life more difficult (see for example Bill 96 as others have noted, as well as the recent saga of the CEO of Air Canada who came under fire for not knowing French and boasting that he was able to live fine in Montreal for over 10 years but has since been forced to start learning French)
