You can take any rental company's truck. There is no specific restriction.
Any boxes will do. You are not shipping them individually hence it doesnt matter.

Thanks Hari. Also, i have few left over, cooking oils, my perfumes and hand wash or body wash, 3 bottles of liquor. Upack has a "Do not include list" where liquids are not allowed. Can i take them in my car ?

Yes, since you are moving with full goods, its same rule. Dont forget to declare to cbsa that you are carrying alcohol/tobacco as they are particular about knowing these 2 items are brought over. Give them total value and mention that you have bought it while back and using them. you should be fine.

Sure thanks alot hari, one last question, regarding BSF186 and BSF 186A, , 186 = has 8 rows, 186A = has 25 rows, what is the difference between both of them. And both read" "PERSONAL EFFECTS ACCOUNTING DOCUMENT "

Also, i have a "Goods to Follow(bsf186)" that i got during landing which has a toronto address on it. But now we are moving to Montreal. Is that fine? Also, UPACK is asking us to fill BSF186 and BSF186A forms now. Should it match the initial list that i have provided(because i have provided the list then very briefly) . Now when i see there are few items that are adding up.(for eg: i have listed as KITCHEN ITEMS as a whole, but now while packing i have a grinder and a oven and a cookware set).

Call cbsa to find out if you can give this copy of the list (thats stamped by cbsa) to see if cbsa can clear it without tax or ask them how you would make the smooth release from customs dept.
Also why cant you ask upack to take this list which is approved by cbsa to clear the customs.
I am unfamiliar on this scenario. We will have to wait on other members to comment.

Hi Hari,

Called cbsa and they said its totally fine moving anywhere. Just they want to see the address proof where i am moving. i told i will provide the lease document. I am good with this now.


Question: Now, i have few pulses/spices and rice bags left over. Can i delcare them in the form and then move them? Is it fine? or i can just move them and no need to declare in the goods to follow form?

You already have the list thats stamped while landing which is enough. You dont need to add small small things. You should be fine. They are not checking each and every box to cross check the list.

Entered back Canada with little stuff with me yesterday, it was pretty smooth and really friendly, may be because i said im moving permanently . they did not check anything like you said. thanks for your inputs, that helped to enter worry-free. Cheers Upack might be entering this week in sometime.

So i have one question now, as i am in quarantine right now. i cannot go out to clear my goods, can my wife go in my place to clear the customs once Upack reaches here. Is that allowed, if i am authorizing her.

I did clearance only on the truck i brought hence its new for me on how upack is cleared. Sorry, please call the customs office in that location to find out.
It might be a problem if the importer is mentioned with your name hence its doubtful that your spouse can help but give it a try.

As i have moved now. How do i cancel the medical insurance that i am taking in US? now i am registered through market place with AmeriHealth. Because i am planning to travel once a month till i get myVisa stamped, what kind of travel insurance do i need to get.

Travel insurance: I get multi trip travel insurance(each trip for days of 2-4 days duration - whichever is giving option on the website).

Health insurance: I never bought it from there hence you need to find out from the Market place website.
Cancel once you applied in Ontario. Did you apply yet? I assume that ohip is covered from day 1. Confirm with them.

Forgot to give. its manulife travel insurance which i found cheaper for this year. You can see if any other company provides better pricing

Hi Hari,

An update: I gave Power of Attorney to my wife with all required docs to clear the customs and it was all good. She went to the CBSA and it was pretty quick. Upack told that this can be done. Hence i have proceeded with that.

Upack told anyone can be given Power of attorney, like wife, sister or brother , till this quarantine rule lasts, which is a saviour. Letting you know so that if someone asks this question you can guide them too.
