Hi Guys,

I'm currently a permanent resident of Canada and my parents are both looking at emigrating too if they are eligible. They are both in their 50's and working as a pharmaceutical scientist and personal assistant. Does anyone know the best stream/method I can use to help them move here? I noticed the wait time for parental sponsorship is still processing applications from 2011 so don't think this would ever work. Both they and I are UK citizens. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

If you meet the income requirements, you can sponsor them for PR through family class. However as you've noticed, the processing times aren't short. There's also a cap on applications each year. This year CIC started accepting application on January 4th and the cap was reading just a few days later. So the earliest you'd be able to submit their application is January 2017.

Otherwise they'll have to look into immigrating independently via an economic streams (e.g. Express Entry). They or you will need to spend time reading through the various immigration programs to see which ones they may qualify for. You can find this information in the link below. I will warn you now that you may find this isn't doable due to their age - it may be quite difficult for them to qualify and sponsoring them via family class may end up being the most feasible option.
