Hello,
I’m planning to move from Quebec to Ontario for permanent residency (PR) purposes. My employer is based in Montreal, and I mostly work from home. After I move to Ontario, I expect to go into the Montreal office about twice a month.

Will this cause any issues with my PR application, considering I’ve already requested to transfer my file from Quebec to Ontario?

What steps do I need to take to officially move my PR application from Quebec to Ontario?

If you have any experience with this process especially whether moving out of Quebec helped speed up your PR application. ’d really appreciate your insights.

You should be fine. Living in Ontario while working remotely for a Montreal-based employer is pretty common, What matters most is that your primary residence and intent to settle are clearly outside Quebec, especially since you’ve already requested the file transfer.

What kind of documents we should webform after moving to Ontario?
After you move to Ontario, there are a few key documents including Ontario Driver’s License, Health Card (OHIP)
update your address with the CRA (for taxes and benefits), update your employer’s payroll records, update banks and any institutions that have your SIN on file, well did I miss more..

Few more questions:
- How long it takes to move your PR file from Quebec to Ontario (to outside Quebec) after updating your address ?
- How long it takes to get OHIP card ?
- Have to cancel the CSQ right away right ?

On the grand scheme it doesn’t matter if you are permanently relocating to Ontario. Working remotely outside of Quebec if employer only has a Quebec office and you are expected to go to the office a few times of month. The longer you spend out of Quebec is actually better for your case.
