Hi everyone,
I have an outland spousal sponsorship application and I'm a Canadian citizen.

I received Sponsor Approval while I was living in Quebec, but I haven't submitted the Quebec undertaking yet due tu Québec limits.

I'm now genuinely considering moving to Ontario because of the long waiting and processing time and would update all my official documents and notify IRCC of my new address. I currently work in Quebec and would like to keep my job, since it's only about a 30–40 minute commute from where I'm planning to rent in Ontario.

These are the questions I'm trying to answer:
  • Is there any delays or complications?
  • Could continuing to work in Quebec while living in Ontario create any issues?
  • Is there anyone with similar experience?
  • Does anyone know a better solution?
If anyone has been through a similar situation or has first-hand experience, I'd really appreciate your help. Thank you!

As long as you are living in Ontario as a tax resident with Ontario DL, OHIP card and lease then it should not be an issue.

There could be issues if you do keep your Quebec employment if there are concerns that you are in fact not permanently settling outside Quebec or that that you have obtained an Ontario address but you may not have actually moved to Ontario permanently. By not cutting your ties to Quebec you could essentially move back to Quebec as soon as you got PR. Some are also getting an Ontario address but otherwise maintain their existing life in Quebec. You could have already lived in Ontario if I assume you live in the greater Ottawa areas so in a commutable distance so a move would clearly be for immigration purposes. How long have you been at your job and lived in Quebec? Is the spouse in Canada currently? What is their status?
