He used to live in the US but had to move to Canada, he got his PR a while ago, not sure when but it was before I came to Canada to live with him. If that's the case that he hasn't applied for anything then it's very frustrating to say the least. The guy hates doing any sort of paperwork and doesn't even want to talk about. I'm going to move back to the US when I turn 18, my parents had always told me I needed to be in the country at least 5 years before I could apply to be a PR.

Now I've been invited to work and I look forward to it, I had excitedly made my resume and now it just sucks that I can't work or do anything until I am approved. I have no idea how long that will take but at this point I am going to leave this country and join the armed forces in America just because the only *work experience I have will be in construction and that's not something I focus on as a career.

If I serve my country I can be rewarded with tuition

*I worked along side my father in his contracting business and was paid

- There is no requirement for you to live in Canada for 5 years to be sponsored by your father for PR. This is simply wrong. No such rule exists.
- Your father needs to sponsor you in order for you to become a PR. He needs to be part of this process. There is no other way. If he is bad at paperwork, then help him to complete it or hire a consultant or immigration lawyer to do it for you.
- The processing time for the sponsorship application will take around a year. You won't be legally allowed to work in Canada until you are approved as a PR.
