I have no idea what they are doing. We email their support they always reply with "you must send us info from way bill info to blah blah", but if you do, they reply with "sorry we cannot help you." What the hell are they doing =\
I think they should let you know if your passport had been received by the Canadian visa center in Moscow anyway if you used pony express your passport might be gone directly to the embassy because Pony express is dialed with the embassy of Canada in Moscow if not ,you should have had the Pony express tracking number too so you can track whether your passport had been received by the visa center or not http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/Russia/english/track_your_application.html

We finally got a tracking number, after arguing a lot with them, lol. Now it says:

Visa application, tracking ID No.<blahblahblah> – Passport has been couriered from the Canada Visa Application Centre Moscow, on 30/07/2014 via {FoxExpress}. To track the status of the shipment, please visit courier partner website.

does this mean it's on its way back to my wife? Also, how do you even track it? They don't give a tracking number for fox express, just the same 20 digit tracking for VFS, lol -_-

good news , no it means it's on the way to the embassy I didn't know that they use some other courier mail I thought they do deliver documents themselves without assistance of some other couriers . It's your tracking number just use it to track your application status on VFS

So it appears that Russian applicants now go through Warsaw, along with all the countries that used to go through Moscow as well. Interesting...

After 2 years on this site, we'll finally be applying next month. Warsaw appears to be quite fast, but we'll see what happens with all the other applications that are going there as well.

I though I am the only one hanging out here reading about the process for years before actually applying ;D We have been working on getting this application in for over 2 years, had to delay for a bunch of various reasons and finally ready to apply. Final checks and sending the application on tuesday hopefully. Good luck and fast processing to you and everybody who is still waiting :)

No, you're definitely not the only one. We're applying for the police check tomorrow, so that should take a month. Getting all the documents translated and notarized, etc. Here's hoping we can send it in by mid-September, although I think we'll have to send it to my parents in Canada first, because our marriage certificate is there.
Good luck to you too!

After frustrating years trying to get his done and 8 months after the medical was done (yeah that was pretty stupid of us) we finally sent our application. I am way too excited about this :D
It has been mentioned here before by MilesAway, just wondering if anybody knows if all Russian applications go though Warsaw now?

Hi Malinka,

I'm Canadian and my wife is Russian, just this week we were informed that our application has been sent to Poland for further processing. I sent our application to Mississauga January30, 2014, I was approved as sponsor February 27, 2014, and my wife's application for PR was sent to Moscow. The we waited in silence.

August 29, 2014 (Kemerovo time) is when she was sent an email about the application going to Poland. It doesn't say anything about the wait we can now expect, I'm going by the average of 8 months that CIC shows, and it says to wait for the Embassy to request any documents before sending anything to them. Her medical was done in November 2013 and she's worried she'll have to redo that, but that's up to immigration now.

We're 6 months and waiting, even if Poland takes 8 months it will be quicker than Moscow would/could have been.

Hope this helps.

Peter

Thanks so much for sharing Peter! I was sort of hoping they will send it streight to Poland as they seem a lot faster. Hope they don't send everyones' applications back and forth between visa offices. From what I have seen on Poland forums Warshaw seems to go much faster than the stated 8 months in most cases, so I hope your wait will be over before the medicals expire. I will have to redo mine for sure so I know how frustrating even the though of it is )) Good luck!

hello everyone!

Congratulations for all those who's already been approved and good luck for those who're still in the process of waiting.

I've got a somehow weird question - we're about to send our sponsorship application package to Mississauga. I am the citizen and my common-law female partner is Russian. We currently reside in Melbourne, Australia hence we'll be going through the Sydney office. The thing is that my partner has renewed her passport in JAN 2014 at the Russian Consulate in Sydney.

As you must very well know, the CIC asks for the country of issuance of her passport. The passport itself says nothing about the country where it was issues - it only says МИД России 61202 which is obviously the ministry of foreign affairs.

Should we then declare that the passport was issued in Russia? Obviously it was physically printed in Russia and no statement indicates that the issuing authority was different than the one mentioned above. Sydney's never been mentioned...

Cheers,

Cheers,
Hello, beatitboss,

I don't claim this information to be 100% valid but just want to share what I was told to do in the same situation. I had to renew my Russian passport in London. When filling in the application I faced the same dilemma and initially put England as county of issue. After I sent the forms to my husband he pointed out to me that it looks like I claim to be UK national even though I stated that I am a citizen of Russia on the same form, seemed kind of fishy to him)) So I called the migration services in my city in Russia (OVIR where we normally get our passports in Russia) and asked them what should I do. They told me the country of issue should be Russia regardless of where you physically received your passport. They explained it as the country issues it to you and the embassies just act as intermediaries in delivering the passport to you. So I changed country of issue to Russia. I would advise you to call the Russian Consulate in Sidney to confirm this information as my local OVIR was found to be giving misleading information before, even though this advice made sense to me.

Hope it helps
