Thanks Dmitri for your explanation of the timing of the AOR letter process. While I maybe a little outside of the usual time window, I will not worry. That can be easily explained by workload in Moscow (I am sure they are busy!!). So I will relax a little and not worry so much! I will post as soon as I get the AOR or a reply to my email inquiry. I know shawngt2 is watching my case closely and I want to give him and other that come after me a good idea of the times involved.

Cheers!
Yes edmman, my eyes are watching you very carefully ;D ..Still no response? How many days?

Dmitri,

Congrats, Don't get your hopes up to expect response from Moscow anytime soon. It's been quite a while for us now :( But who knows, maybe you're special! ;)

I have just heard back from Moscow to my email inquiry about my wife's case status...

"...we haven't yet received your spouse's set of documents. If your documentation did reach our office, it has likely been placed into a queue for review and assigning of a file number.
An acknowledgement of receipt letter will be sent to your spouse's mailing address once her application is initially reviewed..."

I doubt that they have not yet received it (or got lost), so it seems that it is sitting in a pile with other applications waiting for processing. They must be very busy!

It took 17 days for a reply to my email. They say that they will respond with 21 days of receiving your email.

When I receive the AOR letter I will let the forum know. That way others will get an idea of how long their application may sit in the queue before Moscow starts processing.

Sooo, today my wife received AOR from Moscow via email. The letter is dated Oct. 11 which is only 6 days after sponsor approval!!!...Strange that they would send letter now a month and a half later. ??? Maybe I can expect to receive letter from them sometime next week as well...

Dmitri,

Yes we are VERY happy about this. My wife called me at 4am in the morning and it was worth waking up to hear!

As for edmann's file, well maybe they are just updating the last month or more of processing now. My wife put an email address in her application form and surprised they emailed us. If no email address was given, then it may take longer. There doesn't seem to be an exact system as I hear from other people only the sponsor received the AOR, but in this case my wife received it (and maybe I will).

The letter says the following:

MAILING ADDRESS/ E-MAIL: XXXXXXX@XXX.XXX

Date: October 11, 2010

File /Dossier: BXXXXXXXXX

Dear Ms. XXXXXXXX:

This letter confirms that we have created a file based on your application for permanent residence and the undertaking of assistance submitted on your behalf by XXX XXX XXX for your immigration to Canada. Please note the file number above which should be included on all correspondence with our office.

When we have decided whether or not an interview is required, we will inform you directly of our decision.

Based on the current trend for this category, applications for Permanent residence received now will be finalised in approximately 6 (six) months. Please note, however, that this period may be greater or lesser depending on workload at this office. Please refrain from contacting this office within this period of time as we will not respond to enquiries until the processing standards for the file have been exceeded.

Well, everyone is different, but to get ahead I would send letter with docs, give sponsor app ID number and give it to them before they request. It should also come from the applicant and not the sponsor. We had noticed that my wife made an error in the application that was quite significant. She answered no to being refused visa from any country. So we wrote them and mississauga a letter telling them the correction... I try to be ahead of the game as much as possible.

Thanks Edmann, I couldn't help but feel bad for you though....If I was you, I would call the call centre and tell them you would like to speak to a supervisor because you are in doubts about your applications and need confirmation whether it had been recieved. Tell them that someone a month after you is getting response and about your reply from the Moscow Embassy... I would get all over that like a fat kid on a smarty... Sorry if I'm getting into your business or making you more worried... But, don't accept that answer because you should have recieved something before me. Unless of course you didn't give email in application and it's possible they just did all the updates today and you could expect something in the mail shortly :)
