McDonalds may not be the best place to apply either. A lot of people actually want to work there. Easy work and good discounts on food and usually in a good location. If you need a McJob, it might be better to travel around the industrial neighbourhoods and ask at factories and warehouses. You may get a bit dirty and you may not get any food but the pay is usually a bit better. Even if you don't have a car, most industrial neighbourhoods will have some sort of public transport or once you start working, you can find somebody to carpool with.

dear all frds

mohit, some people have found that even after they did their tests and got certified in Canada, they could still not get a job. I do not know how it is for physiotherapists but getting licensed in Canada does not guarantee that you will get a job. You have to do your research on that. If some people you know are telling you that you can easily get a job as a physiotherapist, maybe they are right. Do you have a job offer already? If not, maybe you should contact some employers and ask.

hi dear Leon
i have some known relatives their who are well setteled in the same profession and they have send me the books and lot of material which can help me to clear that exam . rest they cannot give me a job offer letter as i have not passed their exam
so lets see what happens
may god help all
regards mohit

hi mohit,

i am also a physio and currently undergoing PLAR. that is also my plan...to get the license and then try to find a job. right now im still in the middle east trying to save up as much as i can while studying PLAR online. according to my research, there is an abundance of physio jobs in canada but they are concentrated mainly in the major cities. good luck with your credentialling!

Guys, a critical question does impose it self in here; Are you prepared to clean toilets once you're granetd PR in Canada as a skilled worker?

My answer CERTAINLY NOT! :o not that I belittle those who clean them, on the contrary, I respect them emensely. But I see it hard with more then 20 years experience in my field to resort to such profession >:(

Please provide your honest, non biased opinion about this.

It really depends on individual situation. I wouldn't do it either but it is easy for me to say that. But imagine someone else, say working as a doctor but there is no future for their kids even with that doctor salary in their home country, maybe there is high crime, or high poverty all around, etc. For someone like that, taking such a job while preparing to get a job in their real profession is a good tradeoff. Thats just my opinion.

Re: More than 100 applicants for a Job in MCdonald in canada :! canadian dream !

If you say never, what happens if this is the only job available and you are using your capital to stay "unemployed".
Eventually when you run out of money you will have to make a choice, leave Canada, or take the job.

So, the answer depends on why you are in Canada, how important it is for you to stay and how much you want to work.

I suspect that if someone does not intend to work, then Canadian immigration could refuse to admit them.

Just because a job is listed on the NOC list it does not mean there is a job in the marketplace.
Many people have found this to their cost.

Never say never.....

Survival jobs are about exactly what the name says, "SURVIVAL".

Grass is not always greener on the other side. It's not easy for an experienced professional to go and work in McDonald but it's ok to use it a transition to find better work. Market and your skill set will drive many things and it might be different for folks in various segments. My 2 cents...

I think boss2009 has started this thread to throw light on this issue as each one of us will face this situation when we land there. we shud b mentally prepared to struggle for the survival jobs till we clear exams n get something in our professions. Even I agree with him(though it might b little exaggerated) about the job scene. It was worse last year. Things r improving a bit. I m talking about Ontario as i have relatives there. But there is definitely competition for basic jobs. Rest we ll get to know the reality when we reach there. If somebody knows about the current situation I would appreciate that he/she should share on this forum, especially those who have landed recently.
