Sooo..we just got an email from Mexico asking for a birth certificate, a copy of Miguel's passport (which was included in the application, but whatever), and a police certificate from Mexico.

Some clarification would be great!

1. Miguel hasn't lived in Mexico since he was 15 - he has been in the U.S., where he still currently is residing. Do we still need to get a certificate, since he was a minor?

2. Does anyone know if this has to be the original birth certificate or can it be a copy?

In the email they said that they sent us a letter on April 6th asking for all of this info, but we have yet to receive anything. Perhaps they send it by regular post from Mexico? Anyway, I'd love some insight from you experts out there! Thanks!!

1. Assuming that he can't prove that he has never been in Mexico since the age of 15, he is going to have to get a PCC from Mexico.
2. If all they asked was a copy, then it doesn't have to be the original.

Well he's got his high school diploma to prove he graduated here in Dallas, in addition to college transcripts showing he took classes after high school. I'm sure his mom has records of vaccinations and things like that for school as well. Do you think we should send the proof of him living here in addition to a police certificate that shows there's no criminal record for him in Mexico?

Well they are just asking for police certificates so thats what you give them even if he left there when he was 15 submitt the things you need to ,to get a police report from mexico even though he left it will just say no criminal record. You can find out how to get a police report from mexico on the immigration canada website
