I just received my RQ today, my timeline is as follows:

CIC received my application : January 16, 2013
CIC started processing my application: March 10, 2013.
RQ Sent : 23 September 2013

Thank you, Ali. Did you apply from Montreal? 8 months after application to get RQ seems to be very fast for Montreal.

Montreal applicant here. Applied May 2013. Started processing my application Sep 10, 2013.
 
I am from Montreal and below is my citizenship timeline:

We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on January 20, 2012.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on January 20, 2012. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing your application on February 15, 2013.

We sent you a notice on August 2, 2013 to appear and write the citizenship test on August 19, 2013 at 8:15 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

We sent you a notice on September 17, 2013 to appear and take the oath of citizenship at the citizenship ceremony to be held on October 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

Did you apply from Montreal and got RQ only 8 months since application date?
 
My timeline is as follows: (you can find me on the 'May applicants 2013' thread)
Receipt Date: May 27, 2013
InProcess: Sep 10, 2013
Date AOR: Oct 1, 2013

I am surprised that Ali_M3's file took 8 months for an RQ. That could means if I would get an RQ, it would be in the next month (plus/minus). Two people above applied in January 2013, and both got RQs in Sep 2013 (in 8 months, 1 day apart). I see a pattern. And the weird thing is that both applicants are named Ali (I assume from the username, might be wrong)

I hope they don't really discriminate between the English applications and French applications. I have a feeling...hope I am wrong. ;)

I was looking at this spreadsheet:

and I was stunned to see this applicant's processing time: 9 months!!! Shocked in MONTREAL!!! Shocked how come? Check row 695. I can't believe it. What's so special about that person's application. I wish the CIC would treat a lot of us equally. Why would someone have to wait 2 years while some wait 8 or 9 months.
