Had my oath ceremony today at 8:30 but mixed up the times due to a lot of stress ive been under lately and showed up at 1pm instead. Was told i should write a letter explaining and they would reschedule. One of the officers at the event said they would make a note on my file and reschedule me

on the cic site it says they wont reschedule unless its more serious reasons (accident, death in family, illness, etc..) . What are the chances they will deny me a reschedule?

As for the missed oath ceremony, it is hard to tell what CIC will do with this. Will they actually reschedule the oath ceremony, I cannot say. All I can say is hope for your sake, that CIC will reschedule the appointment. Otherwise they may take your missed appointment as "abandoning the application" and close your file. I would suggest to you to call CIC to confirm with them that an appointment is rescheduled. If they give you the runaround, keep calling back to CIC until you get the answer you need to hear.

All you can do is hope for the best and take the officer at his word. Since you only got the times mixed up and just showed up later, I would imagine(hope) that you will be scheduled without issue.

Right, I wouldn't worry too much. Its not like OP said he couldn't show up because he was attending his wife's brother's uncle's sister-in-law's wedding half way around the world.

I agree with the above. I think they will reschedule - it might just take a while.

Write the letter. Send it via registered post to the CIC office that is handling your case. That is the proper path.

There is no reason why CIC would not reschedule your oath. My wife missed her test as she was out of country when the letter came. We wrote an explanation letter and the test was rescheduled.

The folks at CIC aren't out there to "get you". They're doing their job trying to make sure that people that aren't eligible for Canadian citizenship don't get it fraudulently. They have no interest in persecuting a person who made an honest mistake like you and missed the oath.
