Hello,

I will be eligible to apply for citizenship December 2014 and i have a question. My son/daughter will be relocating back to the US in June 2014 after the school year and i wanted to know if i can apply for citizenship for them also when i am ready to apply for mines.

I understand minors (under the age of 18) are not required to meet the physical presence criteria.

Can you give me your 2 cents on my assumptions if i am right or wrong?

Regards....

I think you are right but they don't have to stay abroad for more than 6 months. and you will be asked their school history for the last 4 years in canada.
check the instructions guide for the minor application for citizenship for more details.
thanks

my suggestion to everyone, is who needs or looking for citizenship, better stay in Canada till you get one.

Or you may see delayed in results.

Thanks

why 6 months???

If you read the instruction guide of the minor application for citizenship, you will see the 6 months there. Why? I don't know but I guess it is related to the school program. How can someone stay more than 6 month abroad and be at the same time in school here in canada.
