Migrating to Canada

Hi All,

I am an Indian working in UAE, However I am planning to migrate to Canada to work there.

What type of visa should I apply and what are the requirements for that ?

How about the Permanent residence Visa for 5 Years, can I apply that directly ? in the case what are the chances of I getting the visa as am not a resident of Canada so far.

This explains the new system for Canada.

You convert all your qualifications to Canadian, take English and/or French exams, then submit your profile. You are given a points score.

Every few weeks Canada says "Anyone with xxx points or above can apply". You then send off your paperwork. It is then accepted or rejected. Then you migrate.

There is no 5 year visa.

A big problem for Ph.D holders with RA and postdoc experience is could we use the same NOC for RA and postdoc to apply?

I hold a Ph.D in Biochemistry in USA. I am not sure whether I could use my postdoc experience under NOC 4012 as Research Assistant.
