Edmonton is a good place I was living there for about 10 months.
Lots of Indians in millwoods and surrounding areas. Problem is chilling winters and snowstorms -44 was what I experienced in jan 2013

dont worry binson... it happens sometimes.. my wife's medical was through emedical and mine manually.. but all is well.. also VFS came into existence few months back.. so u had no other option but to send through bluedart..

VFS guys doesnt pack ur docs.. they just put in bag and it is handed over to concerned officer.. thats why people whose medicals are done june 2013 are getting visa faster..

I went there in 2011 for studies in Toronto. Applied post graduation work permit and got the same until August 2013... Then I moved to Edmonton in June 2012 and stayed there until March 2013.
Moved back to Toronto and applied for Work permit extension... got it extended to May 2014.. But I didnt extend my VISA.

I was very frustrated because every employer was asking for PR before hiring. So I decided to come back to India in May 2013. I have a valid work permit until 2014 May but its useless since I dont have VISA to go back nor do I have my passport(which NDVO is holding for reasons unknown)..1 Possible reason can be.... I didnt submit canadian PCC because it takes 22 weeks to process and that will complete on 22nd november before I can enquire about the PCC to RCMP.

Sent passport through vfs, been 4.5 months. In progress. Not sure if thats true.

THATS FINE SINCE THEY HAVE ASKED OUR PP AND THAT TOO THEY ARE HOLDING IT FOR A LONG TIME 99%OUR VISAS ARE GUARANTEED ONLY THING IS TIME .LETS WAIT AND WATCH FRANKLY SPEAKING FRIEND WHERE IS IT GOOD ACCORDING TO YOU EDMONTON OR TORONTO FOR A FAMILY OF 3 AS U HAVE BEEN BOTH PLACES.I TOO APPLIED WORK PERMIT IN 2010 BUT DUE TO RECESSION IT GOT ON HOLD THEN MY AGENCY TOLD TO APPLY UNDER FAST TRACK PR WILL GET PR IN 8 MONTHS ,NOW ITS GOING TO CROSS 3.5 YEARS ...I HOPE TO SEE MY DEAR PASSPORTS SOOONNNNNN....

Just curious- since you had a Canadian work permit, are you not eligible to apply PR under Canadian experience class?
and submit within Canada?

1 more problem with my application is that I have lived in Canada for 2 years from 2011 to 2013 and now I havent submitted my RCMP PCC yet. I believe its because of that my file is still in process.
I have sent the fingerprints to RCMP on 17th june but havent got any reply from them yet.


For all those who are waiting for more than 4-5 months for their passport can we enquire whether they have received our passports at-least?

I could have apllied for Canadian experience Class only if I had minimum of 1 year managerial experience after completion of my studies or 2 years regular experience.(this is what i was told while i was in Canada didnt research about it) Which I didnt have since I didnt have patience and didnt stay long enough in Canada.

Well even though I was unemployed in Toronto. Its the best place to stay in canada. Edmonton is good but there is no life apart from work and home. If you are from India and live in brampton or mississauga or scarborough you wont feel you are in Canada. Lots of people to talk to lots of places to visit.
Most of the jobs in financial sector are in Ontario so if you are looking to work in the same field you have to target cities within this region. It is very competitive and you need a certificate or a professional degree of some kind to get really good job in a corporate. My 5years of experience as financial analyst even with a canadian post graduation didnt fetch me a job. Maybe it was because i didnt have a PR. I have no clue but job requirements always have some professional degrees mentioned

Edmonton has a lot of jobs in retail and the wage rate is pretty good. I used to work at home depot as night manager. But that was the only thing that I did for the time I spent there. Some of my friends stayed back and applied pnp and got it approved but i was worried screwing my career and getting immersed in retail so I moved to toronto for a career in finance, only to find out extreme competition and I returned to india to wait for my PR.

As I see FSW2013 AOR coming in left right centre and most of them got medicals too (purely ndvo concentrating on these files due to skills shortage)
MI Back logs - march-april-may- applicants are seeing DM - so kinda mixed up with these too

fsw2 - chc knows we are in Canada paying taxes, working, and we have BOWP option too so they dont bother to finalize applications in a hurry

well this is how much my brain analysis - u may want to add up
