My boyfriend/common law partner and I broke up once for 2.5 weeks due to the stress of being in a long distance relationship. We later got back together and about a month after we broke up, he flew to see me and met my family, then two months later I moved to be with him in Canada while on my work visa. I'm just wondering if I should include this because I kept a very detailed blog of our relationship and all the posts a few months after our breakup refer to it in some manner since it did affect our relationship, but not in a bad way, just made us grow and realize how important we are to each other. I just don't know if I should mention it or not though.

Hi again!

yes i think you should include that.
not only is it the truth and truth is the best. but its a very normal thing.
alot of couples break up and get back together. so it wouldnt cause any harm for your application
i know other people that included information like this, and it was perfectly fine :)

I don't think you need to mention it. Just provide the blog address and a copy of a few entries. You just need to prove the relationship but they don't need a play by play you know? Show pictures, trips, communication and the common law stuff and you'll be good.

Yeah but the break up explains why we barely spoke to each other in January of last year and a few other things. That's why I was wondering if I should include it or not.

By 'break up'...you don't mean anything related to BDSM, right?

I'd really love to know the nickname for your bf... :p

Hi,

I am going to go by what canadiangirl says as well. Honestly 2.5 weeks is such a short time. You are going to be including many emails, chatlogs and SMS and so on, to prove that your relationship is genuine. Why bring any doubt about your relationship to CIC. If there is an interview, you can use other reasons for the gap in communication. Personally if it was 2.5 months I would be worried, but 2.5 weeks ...???

The other members opinion are also right, but it is your call at the end of the day.

All the best

I included our fights in the chat logs but mostly just the 'im sorry' part.. I didn't include all the words we would sling at each other :p I think it shows you're a real couple if you have fights, but I didn't want to put doubt in their minds by showing them the doubts in MY mind that I may have communicated in our fights..

I mentioned one email where I apologized for being very moody while we were adjusting to his new work schedule and how I wanted to be perfect for him, that was about it. And I'm wondering if I should take that out or not.

Hi aerogurl,

If I were you , I would include that part of being moody and your apology to your husband due to his work schedule and so on. This is my opinion .

If anything I would mention it in terms of 'we had some times where the distance was hard but we always worked through our problems and got back to our goal of being together as a couple'. Most relationships have growing pains, especially long distance ones. I wouldn't be worried about showing the hard times but best to use it to reveal, not that you broke up, but that you worked through the hard times together.
